read to me. sing to me. love me.
A
fter my baby was born, I told all my co-workers that motherhood was in fact THE hardest job, yet so incredibly rewarding. The second hardest thing at the beginning, was adjusting to staying at home and saying bye-bye to a career I nurtured. I starting doing research online for activities or mom groups and I found a class cleverly titled Babygarten at my local libraries.
It is an educational curriculum for caregivers and their babies from birth to toddlerhood. Libraries, hospitals and park districts use the classes to teach parents how and why to read to babies. The classes involve songs and rhymes that help babies with language acquisition and pre-literacy skills.
The hour you spend each week at Babygarten provides an environment that nurtures and stimulates your child with a wide variety of experiences. It helps lay the groundwork for the important skills your child is acquiring. Babygarten provides you with effective tools to help you entertain, comfort, observe and, perhaps, understand your child a little better.
The Babygarten curriculum includes:
- Nursery Rhymes & Songs
- Book Sharing
- Free Play
- Parenting Information
- Handmade Toys
