30 July 2009 97 Comments

Inevitably, children will get sunburned at some point in their young lives, so here is a hydrating herbal spray recipe to help relieve the pain. This formula is exceptionally mild yet effective and can be used even on infants.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup distilled water
  • 1/4 cup store-bought aloe vera juice (note the gel)
  • 5 drops lavender, calendula, or German chamomile essential oil
  • 4-ounce spray bottle

To make:

  1. Combine ingredients in a 4-ounce spray bottle
  2. Spray can be stored in refrigerator for 4-6 months

To use:

  1. Shake well before each use
  2. Spray directly onto sunburned skin as often as necessary to ease pain and help prevent peeling
  3. Do not spray directly into eyes

Yield: 1/2 cup
