Great Grape Escape smoothie recipe

13 October 2009 201 Comments

wild-blueberry-smoothie2b400bChildren love this vivid purple smoothie! It’s a terrific way to get a juice fix, and because it’s made with yogurt and tofu, it’s rich in calcium and protein, which is essential for strong bones, teeth, and muscles.  We added flax seed oil because it contains fatty acids that are essential for brain development.  A spoon of honey not only adds some sweetness to the smoothie, it also is a powerful immune system booster.

Enjoy!

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
  • 3/4 cup frozen red seedless grapes
  • 3/4 cup frozen unsweetened blueberries
  • 3 tablespoons tofu
  • 2 tablespoons grape or apple juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaxseed oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey (exclude for babies under 1 year)

Preparation:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Beet until smooth; for a thinner consistency, add more juice and more yogurt/tofu for a thicker consistency.
  3. Serve immediately.
